The collection contains unsigned notes for a eulogy on the stationery of Rabbi Dr. Philipp Klein.

He served as chief Orthodox rabbi in Louisville, Kentucky, from 1932 to 1941, and held leadership positions in a number of Jewish organizations. Rabbi Notelevitz wrote several books and articles on topics related to Jewish law. The collection contains novellae on Maimonides and Passover sacrifices, as well as a letter to Rabbi Aaron Zlotavitz, secretary of the Council of Rabbis in Brooklyn, N.Y. (1946).

 Abstract:  The collection consists of a pamphlet submitted by Rabbi Moses Hyamson (1862-1949) to the League of Nations on the issue of the world calendar reform, as well as a journal from a testimonial dinner given at the Plaza Hotel in New York City on the occasion of Hyamson's 75th birthday. A long-time dayan (judge) for the London Beth Din and rabbi in New York, Rabbi Hyamson spoke out against the calendar reform which would have resulted in the Jewish Sabbath no longer being on the seventh day of each week.

The collection documents his involvement with Suwalki Holocaust survivors, his career at RIETS, his leadership position in organizations such as Agudath Harabanim and Ezras Torah and in numerous other issues in the Jewish and Israeli political, rabbinic and communal world. It contains correspondence, some writings and speeches, copies of various publications he collected, and a small amount of personal and family materials.

Herbert Goldstein founded the Institutional Synagogue in Harlem in 1917, and occupied leadership positions in numerous Jewish organizations. Rebecca (Fischel) Goldstein, daughter of the philanthropist Harry Fischel, was an active communal leader as well. Also included are papers relating to the rabbinic activities of their son-in-law O. Asher Reichel, materials relating to Harry Fischel, and records of several institutions with which the overall family was connected.
